Rev. Mark Anthony Smith, was born and raised in Tappahannock, Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, Virginia. He also received a Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University.

 

Rev. Smith was ordained in 2010 after serving as Minister of Youth at First Union Baptist Church in Tappahannock, Virginia from 2007 to 2009 and also providing spiritual leadership and Christian Education to the First Union congregation as Interim Pastor for two years.

 

Rev. Mark Anthony Smith was called to serve as the Acting Pastor of Grace United Church of Christ in January 2013. He began serving with the congregation in October 2012 as part of pulpit supply from a sister ministry and has remained in partnership with Grace during this season of transition.  He is also employed as the Comptroller at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, IL.

 

Rev. Smith has a passion to share the liberating message of the gospel of Jesus through sound biblical preaching and teaching. He also has a desire to encourage quality stewardship through the practice of sound administration, leadership development and resource management.

 

His professional career includes years of public accounting, internal audit, and general ledger accounting; along with membership with the National Association of Black Accountants and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.
